I love being a Fibre Artist and making art with fabric. In my free time, I create unique hanging wall quilts, also called Art Quilts and Fabric Art Decor. I carefully choose colors, textures, and patterns to make each quilt special and tell a story. I enjoy the process of hand-sewing and the way fabric feels.

Besides quilting, I like working with paper. I sometimes make paper crafts by cutting and shaping paper, scrapbooking, and collaging. This helps me express my creativity in a different way.

My goal is to create art that is both beautiful and meaningful. I find joy in turning raw materials into special pieces that people can connect with, whether it’s a hand-stitched quilt or a delicate paper sculpture.

What is a Fibre Artist?

Quilt Art or Art Quilts have really carved out their own space. What was once a bit of an oddity, straddling the traditional quilt world and the fine art scene, is now a recognized contemporary genre. These pieces are just as much an expression of the artist’s vision and creativity as any painting you’d see in a gallery.

These artists, often called fibre or textile artists, use a huge range of materials to create visually striking work. They might incorporate surface design techniques like painting or dyeing, employ raw-edge appliqué, or even integrate mixed media. The point is to make an impact.

Starting with fabric or other fibre-based materials as their foundation—basically, fibre is their palette—these artists create both abstract and representational pieces. They utilise all sorts of techniques, from piecing and appliqué to thread painting and collage, to bring their ideas to life. Think landscapes, portraits, abstract compositions, even pieces that tackle social justice issues—anything they can imagine.

Whether they’re working with traditional quilting methods or taking a more improvisational approach, these artists are pushing the boundaries of what fibre art can be. They’re elevating it, establishing fibre as a legitimate and powerful visual arts medium.
